First off, the “talking header” is back. Yes with “a little help from my friends” I was able to remedy the issues with the “talking header,” and all within the course of the evening, and not within several weeks like it would have taken me, battling with the Flash Actionscript 2.0 coding language that is required in manipulating Flash video and animations…
Second, there are now audio and webcam comments enabled for the blog. Supposedly I had a video comment plugin (besides the webcam one) but it doesn’t appear to be there. That will have to be remedied.
The video below is the 60 Minutes story on megafires in the United States, particularly the American Southwest.
It was an interesting, yet somewhat sobering story on the frequency of these fires, and their growing intensity, i.e.: the increase in acreage burned by the fires.
Fire Season’07 is in full swing. Fires are raging all over Southern California and so far Simi Valley and the East County remains untouched (thank God).
We’ve endured enough in the past few years, but are we ready for another blaze? I’m more than confident that our firefighters are ready for any possible altercations with the fires, but are our communities ready to defend themselves from another blaze? I speak primarily of our hillside communities and another area that is in general in danger if the fires head our direction: The Knolls.
The question is not rhetorical since I do not know to what level we are prepared for another fire, particularly in the communities that face considerable danger, and have in the past, when the flames lick the hillsides, but I’m sure that we are mentally prepared to see our hillsides touched by flame, as it is becoming commonplace. I’m back. I apologize for this blog being dormant for so long. I moved back to Simi Valley from Valencia last week and I’ve been busy unpacking, getting settled in, and finishing up some projects. But I am back and with a promised form of media, not yet posted on this blog: audio, i.e.: a podcast. I prefer video myself, but I think it’s good to alternate the mediums a bit, and that’s what I’m doing. That’s it, enjoy the podcast, and it’s good to be back.
